Med Film Factory is a training project aimed at teams of Arab film Directors and Producers (8 to 10 selected teams per year) working on their first or second feature narrative project. 

During each cycle, they take part to three trainings: a director's workshop, a producers coaching programme and an Independent Film Assembly.

Med Film Factory's 3rd cycle training project aimed at eight teams of Arab film Directors and Producers working on their first or second feature narrative project:

They participated to three training workshops: a Producers coaching programme, a Director's workhop, and the Independent Film Assembly.

 

January2014 - Amman, Jordan: Producers' Coaching Programme

Producers have been guided by professionals through an advanced coaching programme tackling various aspects of producing: creative producing, marketing, funding, legalities and pitching, with emphasis on regional co-production, exhibition and distribution.

8-15 April 2014 - Amman, Jordan: Directors'Workshop

Guided by reputable regional and international film tutors and experts, selected directors have joined group, one-on-one sessions and hands-on exercises throughout the eight-day specialized training programme. Experts have worked with directors on their scripts, directing techniques, camera, sound and editing with the aim of helping them develop their visual languages as directors. In addition, participants had the opportunity to direct a scene from their projects, supervised by tutors and experts.  Local crew and cast worked with them through all stages of production.

Mentors and experts were Nadir Moknèche (Algeria), Robert Quinn (Ireland), Larry Sider (USA), Antoine Heberlé (France) and Isabela Araujo (Brasil).

6-7 June 2014: Independent Film Assembly, in Jordan 

The selected teams participated in multiple activities, during the two-day Assembly along with regional and international professional guests: decision-makers, financiers, exhibitors, TV Broadcasters, distributors and potential co-producers. Med Film Factory teams, tutors and mentors provided directors and producers with an ongoing support between sessions and after the programme has ended to strengthen their projects and develop them further.

Med Film Factory's 2nd cycle training project aimed at 8 teams of Arab film Directors and Producers working on their first or second feature narrative project:

July 11-18, 2012 - Amman, Jordan: Directors'Workshop

Med Film Factory's 2nd cycle/2012 started in July with the Directors' Workshop.

Guided by reputable regional and international film tutors and experts, selected directors have joined group, one-on-one sessions and hands-on exercises throughout the eight-day specialized training programme. Experts have worked with directors on their scripts, directing techniques, camera, sound and editing with the aim of helping them develop their visual languages as directors. Mentors and experts were Ghassan Salhab (Script Editor, Liban), Jérôme Boivin (Script Editor & Tutor Director, France), Raja Amari (Tutor Director, Tunisie), Gary Sanctuary (Sound Design Expert, Royaume-Uni), Diane Baratier (DoP Expert, France) et Pauline Dairou Editing Expert, (France).

Early December 2012 - Tunis, Tunisia: Producers' Coaching Programme

Eight producers from Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt and Tunisia met in Tunisia for the 2nd session of Med Film Factory's 2nd cycle/2012.

Producers have been guided by professionals through an advanced coaching programme tackling various aspects of producing: creative producing, marketing, funding, legalities and pitching, with emphasis on regional co-production, exhibition and distribution.

December 2-7, 2011, Tunis (Tunisia): Producers' Coaching Programme

Eight producers from Algeria, Jordan, Palestine and Lebanon met in Tunisia for the 1st workshop of Med Film Factory's 1st cycle/2011.

Producers have been guided by professionals through an advanced coaching programme tackling various aspects of producing: creative producing, marketing, funding, legalities and pitching,  with emphasis on regional co-production, exhibition and distribution.

Mentors and experts were Bero Beyer (production mentor - The Netherlands) ; Michel Feller (production mentor - France), Pim Hermeling (mentor in marketing and distribution - The Netherlands), Karine Riahi (legal expert - France/Tunisia), Stefano Tealdi (pitching expert - Italy) and Habib Attia (regional expert/guest- Tunisia).

Med Film Factory's 1st cycle/2011 continued in January with the Director's workshop.

The tutor Directors were Merzak Allouache (Algeria) and Charles McDougall (UK); Script Editors: Jacques Fieschi (France) and Rebecca O’Flanagan (UK); Director of Photography: Diane Baratier (France); Sound Designer: Larry Sider (UK); Editor: Nadia Ben Rachid (Tunisia).

April 14-15, 2012, Dead Sea (Jordanie): Independent Film Assembly

Audiovisual professionals, distributors, exhibitors, and producers discussed film distribution in the Mediterranean, especially focusing on Jordan where the problem is particularly striking.

More than 40 film professionals have come together to discuss and pitch their projects to potential funders and commissioning editors.

Among the experts invited to the assembly are German producer Karl Baumgartner, Italian distributor based in Dubai Gianluca Chakra, Jordanian producer Nadine Toukan, Wild Bunch Benelux Distribution CEO Pim Hermeling, Dubai Film Connection Manager Lucas Rosant, Lebanese publicist Zeina Sfeir, Hubert Bals Fund Manager Iwana Chronis, and French distributor Michel Zana from Sophie Dulac distribution company.
