National Round Table Workshops
Film and audiovisual in the South Mediterranean Region - key challenges in focus
The Capacity Development Support Unit (CDSU) of the Euromed Audiovisual III Programme is launching its activities with the first of a series of National Round Table Workshops that aim at identifying the needs of the sector in the South Mediterranean countries and the possible concrete actions that will accordingly will be implemented by the programme.
At each national round table, representatives of national authorities and television, producers, directors, distributors, presidents of film associations, film schools representatives, organizers of film festivals, together with the experts of the Strategic Partnership, discuss inter alia the following topics:
- funding for films and audiovisual works - from development to post-production,
- the status of production companies as a creative SMEs - need for full recognition,
- the distribution and exhibition of films and audiovisual works - Access to audiovisual markets North and South of the Mediterranean.

The Capacity Development Support Unit of the Euromed Audiovisual III programme contributes to the strengthening and development of resources and institutional capacities of the film and audiovisual sector in the Mediterranean Region.
More specifically, this activity will be dedicated to:
- the reinforcement of the institutional and legislative framework,
- the improvement of the cooperation environment between the different cinematographic and audiovisual operators at the regional level as well as at the level of multilateral co-productions,
- the exploration for the possible development of support funding mechanisms for productions and co-productions including various countries and territories of the region.
