According to El-Watan, next October cameras will start rolling on the first Algerian feature film about the heroine of the Algerian resistance movement against French colonisation Fadhma N’Soumer. The film is to be titled Le burnous embrasé (Avernus yerghan).
Produced by independent production company Machahou Productions and directed by Belkacem Hadjadj, this fiction will be filmed in Bordj Bou Arreridj. Preparations are already underway, especially for the sets, costumes, and the recruitment of technical and artistic teams.
As for the actors, auditions will soon be held at the Mouloud Mammeri culture centre in Tizi Ouzou.
Machahou productions is looking for young women aged between 18 and 25 to play the role of Fadhma N’Soumer and young men aged between 30 and 40 for the character of Boubaghla, another important figure in the the insurrection of Lower Kabylia before his death in December 1854.

Belkacem Hadjadj has directed many films such as Machaho (1996), El Manara (2004), El Khamssa (film for television, 1988), La Goutte (1982). He is also the director of numerous documentaries and a candid camera series broadcast on Algerian television.
