Syrian, Lebanese filmmakers can apply to visual language workshop

Young Syrian, Syrian-Palestinian and Lebanese filmmakers can apply for a workshop on visual language to take place in Beirut, from September 29 to October 3.

Organised by Biddayyat in association with Screen Institute Beirut, under the supervision of trainers Arne Bro and Lotte Milk-Meyer from the National Film School of Denmark, the workshop seeks to find the narrative visual language best suited to each of eight participant filmmakers.

Syrian and Syrian-Palestinian applicants should apply through the Bidayyat association (info@bidayyat.org), while Lebanese applicants should apply through the Screen Institute Beirut (apply@screeninstitutebeirut.org).

To apply to take part in the workshop, please send the following complete information in Arabic or English to one of the two email addresses:

  • The candidate's Curriculum Vitae
  • A brief note (1 to 2 pages) on the filmmaker's motivation and basic ideas in their films, or art works or cultural activities in case they are interested in another field (like poetry, painting, photography…).
  • An explanation (5 to 10 lines) of the reason why the candidate should participate in this workshop.
  • A short list of the candidate’s art works (films, texts, photos, music…) so far, accompanied by at least three photos from each work and its date.
