Libyan filmmakers to take part in documentary training

Canal France International is to hold a documentary workshop for Libyan filmmakers aged 18 to 30 at the French Institute in Tripoli from April 14 to 23.

It is to be the first of three workshops throughout the year for 10 participants each, to discuss both journalistic methods and aesthetic approaches in documentary filmmaking. Each workshop is to end with free documentary film screenings.

At the end of the year, during Documentary Month, a fourth session will be organised to bring together the best participants from the three workshops.

The training initiative's first edition was very successful in November 2012, especially with youth for whom documentary represents a medium of free expression.

The initiative is supported by the Libyan ministries of culture and civil society.
