Contest seeks short films about Tyre, Al Bass, Kerkouane and Carthage

Young filmmakers are invited to submit short films to highlight the archeological sites of Tyre and Al Bass in Lebanon and Kerkouane and Carthage in Tunisia, as part of a video competition entitled "Mediterranean sights".

The contest is organised by the ARCHEOMEDSITES project, funded under the EU-funded Cross-Border Cooperation Programme.

The contest aims, amongst other things, to:

  • promote knowledge of the target sites of ARCHEOMEDSITES and in general the cultural heritage of the three countries involved.
  • stimulate and encourage the dissemination, among younger generations, of a culture of cooperation and intercultural dialogue, and careful elimination of all forms of discrimination.
  • promote creativity as a function of communication projects of cultural heritage that goes beyond the geographical boundaries of the countries involved.

The videos will be assessed according to their overall artistic quality and consistence with the objectives of the contest. The best film and its maker will be presented during an international conference to take place in Paris on November 8 as part of the 20th Salon International du Patrimoine Culturel, one of the largest fairs of its kind in Europe. In addition, the winning video will benefit from wide visibility provided for by the 11 organisations involved in the ARCHEOMEDSITES project.
