For the first time in Brussels Euromed Audiovisual presents data on South Mediterranean film and audiovisual markets

Euromed Audiovisual III and the European Audiovisual Observatory presented three reports on audiovisual markets in Lebanon, Egypt and Morocco in Brussels this week.

The presentation was made during a discussion on media in the countries of the Arab Spring, held in the context of a seminar for journalists entitled “Two years on Euro-Mediterranean Relations and the Arab Spring”.

The Euromed Audiovisual III programme prepared the three country monographs on Egypt, Morocco and Lebanon with the European Audiovisual Observatory. These studies provide an exhaustive summary of the audiovisual sector (television, on-demand services) and film sector (production, distribution and screening, coproduction, 2012 box office and ticket sales in Europe from 1996 to 2012) in the concerned countries and neighbouring Arab countries before and after the Arab Spring.

The seminar for journalists was organised by the European Parliament and the European Commission and was attended by representatives of European Union institutions, journalists and bloggers from many countries affected by the Arab Spring, journalists from European Union member states, as well as the Brussels press group.

The reports were presented during the discussion on « The situation of the media in the countries of the Arab Spring » by André Lange, from the European audiovisual observatory - expert for the Euromed Audiovisual programme of the European Union.
