An exclusive survey on Co-productions in the South Mediterranean now available on the Euromed Audiovisual website!

The Capacity Development Support Unit (CDSU) of the Euromed Audiovisual III Programme publishes a study providing information on more than 200 international co-productions involving the 9 South Mediterranean countries and territories.

This study was done by Lucas Rosant (Dubai Film Connection coordinator and match-makers in numerous international markets), and concerns 221 co-productions that took place between 2006 and 2011 (including works in progress). For each co-production, data on the authors, producers and co-producers, the financing structure, the festival and market career of the work are available.

You will also find in the study the list of the official co-production agreements existing between the 9 South Mediterranean countries and the rest of the world and an analysis of current trends per country and per genre.

In spite of a regional market place still missing statistics and a common definition of what is a co-production or even an audiovisual work, the study highlights the growing number of co-productions (18 in 2006, 49 in 2011 with some additional 29 films in post-production) as well as the rising importance of documentary co-productions (none in 2006 up to 20 in 2011 with some more 18 films in post-production).
