Terramed Plus project partners -- ARTE France, COPEAM (Permanent Conference of the Mediterranean Audiovisual Operators), EPTV/Algeria, France Télévisions, RAI/Italy, RTVE/Spain, Skylogic, SNRT/Morocco and Télé-Liban -- met yesterday in Beirut, hosted by Lebanese public television, to discuss the project's future.

Together, these seven public television broadcasters from both sides of the Mediterranean in September 2011 launched  terramedplus.tv, the first video-on-demand platform for Mediterranean audiovisual works, where web users can watch documentaries, films, television series and short films for free, with subtitles in Arabic, English and French.

As part ofTerramed Plus, a project co-funded by the European Union through Euromed Audiovisual, Italian satellite channel RAI News also broadcast a weekly promotional clip of programmes showing on partner television channels.

The current phase of Terramed Plus, led by RAI and coordinated by the Permanent Conference of Mediterranean Audiovisual Operators (COPEAM), will come to an end on December 31 after three years.

But the web platform will live on. Participating Mediterranean broadcasters have committed themselves to exploring all opportunities to allow for the project's continuation.
