Aflamnah brings together international and regional talent

Navid Neghaban and Omar Borkan Al Gala to star in 51, now crowdfunding on Aflamnah

Aflamnah brings together international and regional talent

Aflamnah, the Middle East and North Africa region’s first crowdfunding platform for creative ideas, is hosting a crowdfunding campaign for a new short film titled 51.

Written by Michelle Nickelson, 51 is a short thriller based on numbers.

The film is not only to star Navid Neghaban from top US television drama Homeland, but is also to feature the acting debut of Emirati model Omar Borkan Al Gala(photo), who became famous overnight last month after he was reportedly kicked out of Saudi Arabia for being "too handsome".

The short will be shot in the United Arab Emirates in June. The crowdfunding campaign launches this week. The goal is to raise $170,000 through crowdfunding and to secure some support in kind from companies for hotel accommodation and travel to the UAE.

51 is to be directed by John Steven Baltazar, and is the UAE’s first short film collaboration between Hollywood and local talent.

It co-stars Mylène Gomera, Dana Hamdan from regional pay television channel OSN's Sisters Soup, and Rik Aby.

Michelle Nickelson is the managing director of CineFinance UAE and co-chairwoman of Women in Film and Television UAE.
