Mr. Mehdi Mabrouk, the new Tunisian Minister of Culture discussed cultural perspectives in his country in a long interview with Tunisie Afrique Presse (TAP).
Regulations are currently being drafted for the National Centre for Cinema and Image (CNCI), established under a decree dated September 13, 2011, according to the minister, and that the centre’s director will soon be selected from professionals in the sector.
The ministry will revise the composition of the film grant commission and the commission for the purchase of non-subsidized films, he said, according to specific criteria and a more participatory approach in decision-making. The new ministry of culture will respect the 2011 list of films to be funded, despite the fact that it was drawn up by the previous government, he said.
The Carthage Film Festival would be held, as usual, in October.
