At the COPEAM regional audiovisual operator conference in Marrakesh this week-end, from March 29 to April 1, Euromed Audiovisual will present results for its data collection project on the film and audiovisual markets of the South Mediterranean.
Dr. Sahar Ali, in charge of the project, will give participants an update on the methodology and progress in gathering figures for Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Syria, the Palestine, and Tunisia, with a particular focus on results for the audiovisual and film markets in Egypt.

This data collection initiative, launched last October and for which initial results were presented at the Euromed Audiovisual III’s first regional conference last November, brings together Euromed Audiovisual III with the European Audiovisual Observatory (Council of Europe, Strasbourg), who conduct similar research in Europe.
The main objectives of this initiative are to:
The presentation will be given at the 19th annual COPEAM (Permanent Conference of Mediterranean Audiovisual Operators) conference, to be held in Marrakech from March 29 to April 1, at the invitation of the Moroccan public broadcaster SNRT. Discussions will focus on Change in Euro-Mediterranean societies: Media on the move.
The conference will explore how media, particularly public media, have responded to changing societies in the region to update their socio-cultural mission, particularly in terms of governance and editorial policy.
These issues will in particular be discussed during three plenary sessions on March 31, with internationally renowned speakers from European and Arab institutions as well as public broadcasters, academics, and experts from the whole region attending.
They will discuss ethics in the media, the evolution of public service broadcasters, as well as the free circulation of media and citizens in the Euro-Mediterranean, in a changing political, social and cultural context.
