At the Producers Villa in Cannes, Euromed Audiovisual offers film professionals from the South Mediterranean the opportunity to sip coffee with international investors

There’s a long taxi queue outside the train station. An empty taxi arrives and stops a few meters before the pickup point. Suddenly, a group of young men in tuxedos appear from nowhere and, with complete disregard for all those waiting in line, open the taxi door and jump in. A bystander protests. Nearby, a plainclothes policeman decides to intervene...

“That will be my film’s first scene!” Tunisian filmmaker Anis tells an international investor, as they sit together drinking coffee in the garden of the Producers Villa at the heart of the world-famous film festival currently in full swing in the French Mediterranean town of Cannes. The young Tunisian filmmaker has been invited by Euromed Audiovisual, and is back at the festival after several years of absence.

This year, Anis is one of many film professionals from the other side of the Mediterranean, from Morocco to Lebanon, making the best of Euromed Audiovisual’s activities at the film festival, including facilitating meetings between emerging filmmakers and international investors at the Producers Villa, where the programme’s team is based.

“So where will the action take place?” the potential investor asks our Tunisian hero.

“Here in Cannes,” replies Anis.

Until May 26, Euromed Audiovisual will continue to welcome all producers and filmmakers from the South Mediterranean at the Producers Villa, where it offers coffee and free Wifi, at 14 Jean-Hibert Street along the seafront.
