Have a feature film at the end of filming or in post-production? Apply for San Sebastian’s Cinema in Motion initiative before June 30!

Cinema in Motion is a joint initiative between the San Sebastian Festival and the Amiens and Fribourg international festivals to facilitate post-production and boost international distribution for feature films from the Maghreb, developing Arab countries, and the African continent. 

At least four films will be selected by the selection committees of all three festivals and will be exclusively screened on September 24 during the San Sebastian Festival to film professionals in an endeavour to ensure that these productions can be completed, distributed, and exhibited to the public.

Selected directors and producers will have the opportunity to defend their project to producers, distributors, exhibitors, buyers, festival programmers, television networks, technical industries, aid funds, and film institutions.

The call is open to feature films directed and/or produced totally or partially by filmmakers from the Maghreb, developing Arab countries (Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine and Syria), or from the African continent in general.

Applications are free of charge and via an online entry form.

Different kinds of aid to be granted as part of Cinema in Motion include:

• Mactari mixing studios: €15,000 in sound mixing service
• CNC (Centre National du Cinéma et de l’Image Animée): €10,000 towards post-postproduction in France
• Dubai International Film Festival: €5,000 towards the post-production costs of an Arab film
• Amiens Festival: a 35 mm print without subtitles
• Fribourg Festival: a 35 mm print without subtitles
• Titra Film: €2,500 towards subtitling in French or English
