World Cinema Fund - Berlinale 2012: “Filmmakers and the Arab Spring/Insurgency, Poetry and Engagement”

In collaboration with Euromed Audiovisual, Revolution was the focus of the World Cinema Fund Day at the Berlinale on February 15, 2012 as filmmakers from the Arab region shared their experiences of the Arab Spring.

After an introductory speach by Berlinale's director Dieter Kosslick, two discussion panels took place:

Focus on Syria, with

  • Hala Al Alabdallah, filmmaker, producer, film activist (Syria/France) 
  • Mohamed Ali Atassi, filmmaker, journalist (Syria/Lebanon)
  • Alaa Karkouti, film journalist (Syria/Egypt)

Documenting Revolution, with

  • Hania Mroue, festival organiser, producer (Lebanon)
  • Nadia El Fani, filmmaker (Tunisia/France) 
  • Hala Galal, filmmaker, producer (Egypt)

Panels have been moderated by Vincenzo Bugno, director of the World Cinema Fund.
